Water Use, Pollution, and the Colorado River

This week I read about water resources and pollution, along with the videos about the Colorado River, really made me think about how limited and stressed out water systems are. Before this, I didn't realize how much we depend on rivers like the Colorado River, especially in California. The video showed how water is diverted for agriculture and cities, which has reduced the natural flow of the river so much that it often doesn't even reach the ocean anymore.

From Chapter 21, I also learned more about how human activities impact water systems, especially through pollution and overuse. Things like agriculture runoff and waste can contaminate water sources and make them less usable, which makes the overall water shortage problem even worse. It made me realize that it's not just about how much water we have, but also about the quality of that water.

This connects to my own life because living in California, I'm aware of water restrictions. I used to think they were temporary issues, but now I see that they are. part of a much bigger problem involving log term water management and climate conditions.

Overall, this week helped me understand that water issues are both environmental and human problems. We rely on these systems every day, but at the same time, we are also the main reason they are being stressed. It makes me think that better water management and conservation will be really important in the future.
