Weekly Blog 5

This week, I learned about climate change and how human activities are a major cause of it. One thing that stood out to me is that scientists have strong evidence that the Earth is warming, mainly because of greenhouse gases from human actions like burning fossil fuels. We also learned that this leads to serious effects like rising sea levels, stronger storms, and ocean acidification, which can harm ecosystems and biodiversity.

In class, we also did a group activity about the Strait of Hormuz and global conflicts. I learned that the Strait of Hormuz is a narrow water passage between the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea, and it is very important because a large amount of the world's oil passes through it. So conflicts in that region can affect global oil prices and energy supply. This connects to climate change because when oil supply is disrupted, countries may change how they use energy, which can impact pollution and emissions.

We also talked about China's role in this. It is one of the largest consumers of energy and greenhouse gas producers, so what it does can have a big impact on climate change. This made me realize how global issues like war, energy, and population growth are all connected.

Overall, this week helped me understand that urbanization and population growth increase energy demand, which can worsen climate change. It also showed me how important it is for countries to work together to reduce pollution and protect the environment.
